In retrospect, I am very happy to note that ESAF Cooperative has successfully navigated its way forward despite headwinds. The tradition and culture at ESAF is to uphold the spirit of servant leadership and thereby fighting the partiality of prosperity. The ethical value system that we have developed is closely linked to the tradition and culture of our nation, something which is well nurtured by many erstwhile luminaries from different walks of life, including saints, literates, politicians and industrialists. Like those like-minded predecessors, we also want to keep the flag of Indian philosophy high across the globe. For more than two decades, we have been trying to bring in financial peace by creating opportunities to all.
From an NGO formed in 1992, we have undergone various transformations for the benefits of our members and all other stakeholders. The last of the transformation was culminated in the formation of ESAF Small Finance Bank, which was a moment of fulfilment for all ESAFians. Now we are serving the society through various entities apart from ESAF Small Finance Bank like ESAF Healthcare, ESAF Retail, ESAF Society and ESAF Co-operative.
At ESAF Co-operative, the strategy we are now implementing is to combine the value system with modern technology for attaining the cause of financial inclusion envisaged by the Government of India. The fact that we were shortlisted as one among the three finalists for European Microfinance Award, for technological innovations in last mile connectivity, stood testimony to this claim.
As you are aware ESAF Co-operative has been rechristened as ESAF Agri Cooperative Society and its agriculture foray has already been commenced. Today ESAF Co-operative is spread across 5 states and is successfully facilitating last mile connectivity of the bank by functioning as its collection agent. At this moment, I would like to categorically state that ESAF Cooperative has played a spectacular role in the giant leap made by ESAF Small Finance Bank. The last quarter results of the bank have conveyed a true picture. The Small Finance Bank has crossed deposits worth Rs 3,000 cr and loans worth Rs 4,500 cr as on June 30, 2018. Also, we are providing financial services at the doorstep for more than 18 lakhs women beneficiaries spread across 8 states.
I would like to humbly state that the journey in the last twenty-six years was not always hurdle free. But due to the strong support from our well-wishers, members, management and staff we have reached thus far.
Once again, I thank all of you – the members, well-wishers, management and staff for your continuous support and encouragement.
